Biographical Information

Anna Kosloski (Ph.D. Iowa State University, 2012) is an Associate Professor in the College of Public Service and serves as the Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice and a Presidential Teaching Scholar within the University of Colorado. Her research is focused across three core areas (a) violence and violence prevention; (b) program evaluation; and (c) teaching and learning. Dr. Kosloski believes research can be an impetus for action. Therefore, she has made great efforts to partner with communities and organizations on research initiatives. Examples of this include her work with CJ agencies to evaluate programs, and collaborative research on sex trafficking and violence prevention. Dr. Kosloski believes in the teacher-scholar model and tries to bring her research into the classroom. She enjoys mentoring students on research and tries to find ways to support their research interests.

Dr. Kosloski regularly teaches the GPS DOA course, which is part of a learning community, paired with the CRJU 1001: Introduction to Criminal Justice course. She enjoys being part of a student’s experience at UCCS from day one. She also teaches Crime Theory, Human Trafficking, and elective courses in the Bachelor of Criminal Justice program. In the graduate (MCJ) curriculum, Dr. Kosloski most often teaches Violence, Criminal Justice Systems, Policy and Practice, or elective courses. In 2016, Dr. Kosloski was selected as the UCCS Outstanding Teacher of the Year. In 2021, she was selected as a President’s Teaching Scholars Program member.

When she is not working, Dr. Kosloski is likely taking pictures of Colorado's beautiful landscapes or participating in adventures outdoors.
