Biographical Information
Anna Kosloski (Ph.D. Iowa State University, 2012) is an Associate Professor in the College of Public Service and serves as the Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice and a Presidential Teaching Scholar within the University of Colorado. Her research is focused across three core areas (a) the intersection of gender, violence, and crime; (b) program evaluation; and (c) teaching and learning. Dr. Kosloski believes research can be an impetus for action. Therefore, she has made great efforts to partner with communities and organizations on research initiatives. Examples of this include her collaborative research on sex trafficking, Murdered and Missing Indigenous People (MMIP), and the impact of COVID-19 on criminal justice agencies. Dr. Kosloski believes in the teacher-scholar model and tries to bring her research into the classroom. She enjoys mentoring students on research and tries to find ways to supports their research interests. Dr. Kosloski’s scholarship has recently been recognized in Women & Criminal Justice, Child Abuse & Neglect, and the Journal of Criminal Justice. She is currently part of three research teams collaborating on federally funded research projects.
Dr. Kosloski regularly teaches the GPS DOA course, which is part of a learning community, paired with the CJ 1001: Introduction to Criminal Justice course. She enjoys being part of a student’s experience at UCCS from day one. She also often teaches Crime Theory, Human Trafficking, and Women and Crime courses in the Bachelor of Criminal Justice program. In the graduate (MCJ) curriculum, Dr. Kosloski most often teaches Violence, Criminal Justice Systems, Policy and Practice, or the Gender, Race, Ethnicity and Social Class course. In 2016, Dr. Kosloski was selected as the UCCS Outstanding Teacher of the Year. In 2021, she was selected as a President’s Teaching Scholars Program member.
When she is not working, Dr. Kosloski is likely taking pictures of Colorado’s beautiful landscapes, participating in outdoor adventures, or spoiling her dog.
