James Allen

Commander James Allen joined the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) in 2004, beginning his career as a patrol officer, a role he held for his first five years. He later moved into investigate assignments with the Domestic Violence & Adult Sexual Assault Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in 2009. He returned to the Patrol Bureau in 2013, serving in all four patrol divisions, before transferring to the Downtown Area Response Team as a DART Officer in 2016. He was promoted to sergeant in 2018, serving as a patrol supervisor and as a detective sergeant in the Metro VNI Strategic Operations Section starting in 202. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2022, where he served as a patrol watch commander in the Sand Creek Division starting in 2022. He later became the Technical Operation Section lieutenant in 2025, overseeing the Real Time Crime Center, Drone as a First Responder program, Technical Support Services, and the Direct Line Reporting program. In 2026, he was promoted to commander and currently leads the Falcon Patrol Division.

Commander Allen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a Homeland Security concentration from Colorado Technical University. He is a graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy executive leadership program. Commander Allen has also been a member of the Colorado Army National Guard for over 23 years.
