Biographical Information

Michelle Moar joined the Social Work faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor in August 2025. Before joining UCCS, Michelle was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Alaska Anchorage from Fall 2023 to Spring 2025. Michelle also previously taught at Portage College in Alberta, Canada.  

Michelle completed her M.S.W. at Dalhousie University and her B.S.W. at the University of Regina. Michelle also completed a B.A.H. at Queen’s University, with a Double Major in Women’s Studies and Psychology. Michelle is currently completing her D.S.W. at the University of Kentucky. Michelle is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Alaska and a Registered Clinical Social Worker and Approved Clinical Supervisor in Alberta, Canada. 

Michelle brings 25 years of experience as a social worker with clinical practice experience in a variety of settings, including military mental health, military social work, community mental health, school social work, and geriatric social work. Michelle holds EMDR certification and a specialty in trauma treatment for military and veterans. She has extensive training in a wide range of clinical practice modalities.
